JK Papers, part of the HS Singhania Group, has
planned to invest Rs.235 crore in setting up facilities for the manufacture of
specialized paper. The project that would manufacture duplication board papers
will come up at the existing Central Pulp Mill in Gujarat. The unit will have a
processing capacity of 60,000 tpa.
Meanwhile, the company recently commissioned a
Rs.80 crore offline blade coating plant with capacity 46,000 tpa at the
Jaykaypur unit in Rayagada district of Orissa.
According to JK Papers, the share of coated paper
in the writing and printing segment globally is estimated at 40 per cent. In
India it is at about 10 per cent. India imports about 50,000 tonnes of coated
paper annually.
