The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated the
bidding process for development of the Machilipatnam minor port as a deep port
facility, with private sector participation. The state government intends to complete the
selection of the developer in three to four months.
For the proposed 1,100 crore project, the
government is planning to provide 3,000 acres of land for the integrated
development of port including the development of the port based SEZ or a Free
Trade Zone in public-private partnership.
The government has also invited EoIs from
experienced port developers by 29 October 2005. L&T Ramboll, the project
consultant, has already completed submitted the feasibility report of the
project.
