Reliance Energy has reportedly submitted its
expression of interest for the proposed Hyderabad elevated metro rail link
project. REL has planned to induct Canadian rail equipment major Bombardier as
its partner, at a later stage. Bombardier, it is further learnt, would be
offered 26 per cent in the joint venture.
The Andhra Pradesh government, in August 2005,
had invited expressions of interest from private sector players for developing
the proposed Hyderabad elevated metro rail project, on BOT basis. Three routes
with a total length of 59 km would be taken up in the first phase.
Bombardier Transportation is a world leader in
rail equipment and rail control solutions. The Canadian company has been in
India since 1996. It even has a factory at Vadodara that manufactures rail
propulsions.
Reliance Energy, it may be mentioned, has also
bid for other infrastructure projects like the Mumbai metro rail project,
highway projects offered by NHAI on BOT basis, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Sea Link
project and the Mumbai-Delhi airports modernization projects.
