The Prime Minister's Office has given clearance
to three Chinese companies -- Evergreen Marine, Hutchison Holdings and Hua Wei
-- to participate in Indian infrastructure projects.
Evergreen and Hutchison have expressed interest
in Indian container terminal projects like Mumbai Port Trust's offshore
container terminal and the second container terminal project of Chennai Port.
Hutchison was very keen in developing the third
container terminal project of JNPT in 2003. The Hong Kong-based company's
application was however rejected.
