Bharat Heavy Electricals has bagged
its single-largest order for supply of transformers, according to a company
press release. The order, valued at Rs.80 crore, was received from Egyptian
Electricity Transmission Co (EETC) -- a wholly-owned government entity.
This is also the first time that BHEL
has won an order for supply of transformers to Egypt. BHEL had earlier executed
a boiler project at Al Arish in Egypt.
BHEL's scope in the contract envisages
supply of 14 transformers of 125 MVA rating to be installed in eight
sub-stations of EETC, at different locations in Egypt. To be manufactured at
BHEL's Jhansi plant, the transformers will be installed and commissioned under
BHEL supervision.
BHEL has earlier executed a Boiler
project at Al Arish in Egypt. With the above order, BHEL has also established
itself in the Transmission Sector in the Egyptian Market, once again
demonstrating its versatility and international competitiveness.
EECT is a wholly-owned government
organization under the Ministry of Electricity & Energy, Egypt. EETC is
responsible for management, operation and maintenance of high and ultra high
voltage power transmission grids all over the country.
