Century Textiles & Inds has planned to
set up a new textile unit in Gujarat, as it phases out capacity at the Mumbai
unit. The company would invest around Rs.500 crore in the new unit whose
capacity and other details are being firmed up.

Group, has cut down textile capacity at the Mumbai unit by around 1,300 looms.
The company ultimately plans to shift its production base to Gujarat over the
next two-three years.
In a related development, Century has
also decided to increase its overall cement capacity by 1 million tpa at an
investment of Rs.150 crore. Total capacity would be close to 8 million tpa. The
company has three cement divisions -- Century Cement (Maharashtra), Maihar
Cement (Madhya Pradesh) and Manickgarh Cement (Chhattisgarh).
