Two entities have qualified for the
Ozat-Madhuvanti Spreading Channel project in Gujarat for which the state
government's Water Supply & Kalapsar Department invited tenders in July
2005.
Speaking to ProjectsToday, department
officials stated that two Ahmedabad-based companies -- B Patel Infrastructure
Pvt Ltd and Backbone Projects Pvt Ltd -- have qualified under the technical and
financial bidding rounds. The final selection is pending. The tender had
attracted a total of 12 valid bids, it is learnt.
The Salinity Control Division of
WS&K department, in July 2005, had invited bids from approved contractors to
undertake construction of the 15-km Ozat-Madhuvanti spreading channel in
Porbunder district at a cost of Rs.17.82 crore. The project seeks to avoid the
mixing of saline water into the two rivers by creating the proposed spreading
channel.
The project has a gestation period of
three years, but there is no timeframe available for selection of the final
