It is reported that work on the
Rs.7,000-crore Hyderabad Metro Rail project is likely to commence by end-2006.
The preparation of detailed project report (DPR) and financial returns are
expected to be finalised by 10 June 2006.

has been appointed as consultants for the project
The pre-qualified consortia meeting is
expected by 15 June 2006 and the preparation of technical and financial bid
documents are likely to be evaluated by 20 October 2006.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Corporation (HMRC),
a special purpose vehicle, will be formed by August 2006 and identification of
government lands for stations, depots and workshops will be completed by
end-July 2006.
The project will be implemented on BOT
basis and Phase-I is scheduled for completion by December 2008.
