BSNL and MTNL is planning to invest
Rs.1,800 crore to lay an under-sea cable between India and Singapore. Both the
companies have appointed a consultant for preparing a blue print for the
project.
The cable will be laid by Millennium
Telecom, a subsidiary of MTNL, in which BSNL has acquired 49 per cent stake for
this project. Work on the project is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
