Airports Authority of India has
shortlisted six companies for the modernisation of Chennai and Kolkata airports
with an investment of Rs.3,800 crore.
The short-listed companies include ITD
(Hong Kong), Ssangyong (Malaysia) and TAV Tepe Akfen (Turkey). AAI is also
learnt to have shortlisted three companies for being appointed as project
management consultants, who will oversee the implementation of these two
projects on a turnkey basis. US-based Louis Berger Group are among the
shortlisted companies.
The Kolkata Airport will be modernized
at a cost of Rs.2, 000 crore whereas the Chennai Airport will be modernized at a
cost of Rs.1,800 crore. Kolkata airport modernization got pre-Public Investment
Board clearance but is awaiting PIB and CCEA nod. Chennai airport is yet to get
all three clearances.
