The Centre is soon likely to give
clearance to the three airports at Shimoga, Gulbarga and Hassan in Karnataka.
The projects is set to be cleared at
the first meeting of the newly formed steering committee and the clearance is
expected by mid June 2008. The committee, which is headed by the Civil Aviation
Secretary, was set up after the Union Cabinet approved the new policy on
greenfield airports.
The projects are being developed on a
BOT basis over the next two years by the private sector and the Karnataka
Government.
