Arcelor Mittal is in talks with the
Chhattisgarh government for setting up a 6 million tpa integrated steel plant
with an investment of around Rs.12,000-15,000 crore ($3 billion).
Though discussions are at an initial
stage, the new steel plant will increase the total proposed capacity of Arcelor
Mittal to 30 million tpa in India over a span of 8-10 years. The company has
already announced two integrated steel plants of 12 million tpa capacity, one
each in Jharkhand and Orissa, at a total investment of $24 billion (approx
Rs.96,000 crore)
