The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) is expected to set up its own
campus in Gulbarga at an estimated cost of around Rs 144 crore.
Presently, the university functions in the Gulbarga University administration
building.
RITES has been appointed as project management consultants for the campus for
which the Karnataka Government has allotted 621 acre at Kadaganchi-Suntanur
villages on the Gulbarga-Waghdhari inter-state highway in Aland taluk. Work on
the campus is expected to commence by July 2010.
The CUK is one of the 15 universities that were set up during the 11th plan
period to increase access to quality higher education by people in less
educationally developed areas.
