The construction work on the 1,600-MW thermal power plant of Karnataka Power
Corporation (KPCL) in Chhattisgarh is likely to start by December 2010.
The KPCL had signed a deal with the Chhattisgarh Government in September 2008
for the project. The state government had allotted 1,260 acre to KPCL for the
power plant that will come up in Bodna in Janjgir-Champa district.
KPCL, and L&T recently signed a JV agreement for the 1600-MW (2x800 MW)
coal-based super critical thermal power project. The cost of the project is
likely to be around Rs 6,000 crore.
