GEMS Education plans to infuse Rs 500 crore over the next three years to
increase its presence through a network of owned, managed or leased schools in
the country.
The company is holding talks with Ansal Properties and Infrastructure (APIL)
for leasing schools in some of the firm's townships across various cities.
Currently, GEMS owns, manages or leases 17 schools with half of them
operational at present and the rest under construction. It plans to have 100
schools by March 2014.
As per sources, the company is likely to start a state-of-the-art school in
Gurgaon from 1April 2010, which has been leased from APIL through its group
company Knowledge Tree Infrastructure.
