The MMRDA's urban sanitisation programme called 'Nirmal MMR Abhiyan' is
nearing completion.
Out of the planned 24,000 toilet seats, around 19,000 seats have been
completed. The project is being taken up at a cost of Rs 240 crore.
Nirmal Abhiyan aims to provide clean, hygienic community toilets and
bathrooms for those living in the slums. There will be a provision of 24 hour
water and electricity supply and designed to suit the needs of senior citizens,
handicapped, children etc.
