JW Marriott has decided to set up 10 hotels across five countries in 2010
with an investment of over $2 billion (approx Rs 8,948 crore).
The properties are to come up at Hangzhou in China; Bogota in Colombia;
Ankara in Turkey; San Antonio, Los Angeles, Miami, and Chicago in the US; and
Bangalore, Chandigarh and Chennai in India.
The hotel in Bangalore with 250 rooms is to come up close to the city’s
commercial centre. It will have recreational amenities like a night club, spa,
swimming pool and a fitness centre. The hotel in Chandigarh is likely to have
175 rooms with a variety of restaurants, bars, lounges and other facilities. The
new property coming up in Chennai is to have an inventory of 371 rooms.
