General Electric's (GE) Oil & Gas division on 15 April 2010 signed an
agreement to form a JV with Triveni Engineering and Industries to manufacture
steam turbines in India.
The JV - GE Triveni - is to be incorporated in India with its headquarters in
Bangalore. It will manufacture turbines for 30-100 MW power generation
applications. Apart from manufacturing, the JV will design, supply and sell the
turbines.
While GE is likely to provide technology, and research and development
support, Triveni is expected to use its Bangalore facility for turbine
manufacturing.
