Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced on 23 August, 2025 that a new 750-acre industrial estate will soon be developed in Puducherry, signaling a major push for investment and employment opportunities in the Union Territory.
The declaration came during the awards night at the three-day International Business Summit and Expo, held at the Old Port Grounds and organized by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO). Seventeen individuals, including GOPIO members and Indian representatives, were felicitated at the event.
CM Rangasamy emphasised Puducherry’s strong advantages for investors, including uninterrupted electricity, a ready workforce, and a large pool of educated youth. He urged the Indian diaspora to consider investing in the region, adding, quote, “We consider investments by the Indian diaspora to be very important. The Puducherry Government will extend all support.”
Tourism Minister K Lakshminarayanan highlighted Puducherry’s strengths in education, healthcare, and tourism, noting its distinction as one of Asia’s top walkable cities, while praising the CM’s transformative welfare schemes.
