The Bihar Cabinet has approved the acquisition of 2,627 acres of land at Rs 812 crore for developing five new industrial areas.
Begusarai will see the largest share with 991 acres at Rs 351 crore, followed by Patna with 500 acres at Rs 219 crore. Other allocations include Siwan (167.34 acres, Rs 113 crore), Saharsa (420.62 acres, Rs 88.01 crore), and Madhepura (548.87 acres, Rs 41.26 crore). The Infrastructure Development Authority, Patna, will execute the acquisition. Additionally, 1,300 acres will be acquired for an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Project in Gaya district.
The Cabinet also approved Rs 35.14 crore for a textile factory in Gaya’s Guraru industrial area, generating 237 employment opportunities. In aviation, Rs 290.91 crore has been sanctioned for Obstacle Limitation Surfaces surveys at six proposed greenfield airports, and Rs 137.17 crore for land acquisition to expand Gaya airport with CAT I lighting for all-weather operations. A total of 30 decisions were taken in the meeting chaired by CM Nitish Kumar.
