The Telangana government is set to advance plans to develop Bharat Future City, a 765 sq. km urban-industrial hub in south Hyderabad, under the Future City Development Authority (FCDA).
Conceived by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the project is to be implemented by the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) with master planning by an international consultancy. Officials said it aims to create a model for sustainable and inclusive urbanisation. Planned zones include artificial intelligence, life sciences, electronics manufacturing, electric vehicles, energy storage, tourism, film production, healthcare, and knowledge infrastructure.
The government describes it as India’s first net-zero smart industrial city, designed for over one million residents with integrated industrial clusters, housing, and civic amenities. Following the “Live, Learn, Work, Play” model, the city will have walk-to-work residential clusters near reserve forests, plus hotels and resorts to boost tourism. Connectivity will include an internal metro line and Bus Rapid Transit Systems.
To attract investment, the project is being positioned for funding from JICA, World Bank, and AIIB. The FCDA’s jurisdiction spans land around the Outer Ring Road, Srisailam Highway, and Nagarjunasagar Highway, with direct access to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
