The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has cancelled the bids for Amritsar and
Udaipur airports and revised the scope of work under the new tender document,
after a dispute with private developers over whether to develop only city side
or both city side and terminal side of airports. The city-side development of
non-metro airports run into trouble after developers denied the right to develop
the terminal side.
The authority will now issue tenders for undertaking only city-side
development work at selected airports. These may include Amritsar, Jaipur,
Udaipur and Lucknow. If successful, the model may be replicated for city-side
development of the rest of the non-metro airports as well.
