ACEN and UPC Renewables have partnered for over 500 MW of new clean energy projects in India, comprising a 420 MW solar farm in Barmer region in Rajasthan, and a 120 MW wind farm in Karnataka.
Scheduled for completion by early 2027, these projects aim to collectively generate around 1,158 GWh of renewable electricity annually—enough to power approx.2.41 lakh homes and offset over 8.76 lakh tonne of carbon emissions each year. The Rajasthan solar plant alone is expected to produce 767 GWh annually, leveraging the region’s high solar irradiance, while the Karnataka wind project will generate 391 GWh annually by harnessing monsoonal wind patterns and favourable terrain.
These ventures are also set to create over 1,500 employment opportunities during construction, supporting local employment and economic growth. ACEN International CEO Patrice Clausse highlighted the importance of tapping into high-potential markets like India thrugh this partnership. UPC Renewables CEO Brian Cayn emphasised the continuity of their strategic alliance, following the deployment of 630 MWp of solar capacity in India.
