The Andhra Pradesh government has given nod for the construction of a new Raj Bhavan complex in Amaravati, marking a major development in the state's capital region.
Estimated to cost Rs 212 crore, the complex will be built on the riverbank and will house the governor's mansion, an assembly durbar hall, and office space, alongside extensive residential and support infrastructure. The project includes two guest houses, six officer quarters, 10 senior staff quarters, 12 junior staff quarters, 40 support staff quarters, and barracks with 20 rooms and 144 accommodations.
Designed as a RCC structure, the complex will feature advanced mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for sustainability. A boundary wall with four sentry posts will provide enhanced security. Recently approved by the CRDA and the State Cabinet, the Raj Bhavan is intended to become a symbolic and functional landmark in Amaravati, serving ceremonial, administrative, and official functions, and reinforcing the city’s identity as the administrative seat of Andhra Pradesh.
