AURIC, a smart industrial city under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), has allocated 90 percent of its industrial plots in the Shendra and Bidkin regions.
To meet the growing water demand, especially in Bidkin, the Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) has begun constructing a dedicated 900 mm-diameter water pipeline from the Jayakwadi dam. The Bidkin area has been allocated 72 million liters per day (MLD) of water from this project, with a total of 100 MLD reserved for future industrial, residential, and commercial needs across AURIC. Currently, AURIC receives 30 MLD from MIDC, though actual demand is lower — only 4.5 MLD in Shendra and one MLD in Bidkin.
Despite the present low usage, the water reserve is part of a long-term strategy, anticipating rapid industrial growth. Additionally, 42 percent of the overall water requirement will be fulfilled through treated wastewater reuse. The tendering process for the pipeline began in January, and construction is already in progress.
