Adani Cement has partnered with Finland-based Coolbrook to deploy the world’s first commercial RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) at its Boyareddypalli Integrated Cement Plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The innovative technology targets decarbonisation of the energyintensive calcination stage of cement production, a critical step in reducing fossil fuel dependence. By providing clean heat to dry and enhance alternative fuels, the RDH system enables significantly higher substitution of sustainable resources, directly reducing approximately 60,000 tonne of carbon emissions annually, with potential to increase tenfold.
Fully powered by Adani Cement’s renewable energy portfolio, the deployment ensures emission-free industrial heat. This milestone supports Adani Cement’s Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 and aligns with Coolbrook’s mission to cut 2.4 billion tonne of CO2 across heavy industries globally. The RDH will also enhance process efficiency, improve alternative fuel usage to 30 percent, and increase green power share to 60 percent by FY28, representing a breakthrough in hightemperature electrification for cement production.
