Adani Group has commissioned India’s first off-grid five MW green hydrogen pilot plant in Kutch, Gujarat, marking a significant step toward the country’s National Green Hydrogen Mission. Developed by Adani New Industries (ANIL), the clean energy arm of Adani Enterprises, the plant operates entirely off-grid, powered by solar energy and integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS) for uninterrupted operation.
The plant produces green hydrogen through electrolysis using renewable power and features a fully automated, closed-loop electrolyser system that dynamically responds to variable solar input, enhancing efficiency, safety, and performance. “The state-of-the-art plant is 100 per cent green-powered by solar energy,” the Group stated, positioning the project as a new benchmark for decentralised, renewable-powered hydrogen production in emissions-intensive industries.
Green hydrogen, the cleanest form of energy, emits only water vapour upon use. This project aligns with India's vision to become a global green hydrogen hub. ANIL is also developing large-scale green hydrogen and derivative production ecosystems, including green ammonia, methanol, SAF, and renewable energy manufacturing infrastructure in Mundra, Gujarat.
