On 10 February, 2026, TTD Chairman BR Naidu inspected the progress of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) biogas plant in Tirumala, located at Kakulamanutippa.

The foundation for the plant was laid five months ago, and it is scheduled to be completed by March, with operations expected to begin in May. The plant, which will have a capacity of 40 tonne of biogas per day, is projected to help TTD save approx. Rs 1.52 crore annually. The biogas initiative will recycle organic waste and reduce pressure on the Tirumala dumping yard, addressing long-standing waste management concerns.

During his visit, Chairman Naidu also inspected the Sudarshan Sadan building and instructed officials to address water leakages in the rooms. A decision on whether the building should be modernised or reconstructed will be made after further consultations.
