Adani Group has requested land from the Gujarat government to develop a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Ahmedabad and a township in Gandhinagar. The request, disclosed in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, was made in exchange for land currently held by the company.
According to a government response to Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar’s question, Adani Group has sought 29,847 sq. mtrs. in Ahmedabad. This includes 18,718 sq. mtrs. from Survey Number 329 and 11,129 sq. mtrs. from Survey Number 361, in exchange for 33,286 sq. mtrs. from Survey Number 292 in Moje Khodiyar, Daskroi taluka. The SEZ is planned as part of a modern township development. Additionally, the Group has requested 63,334 sq. mtrs. in Gandhinagar for a township, offering 61,211 sq. mtrs. in Dantali taluka in return.
Another 202 sq. mtrs. has been sought in Kalol taluka. These requests are currently under government review. Adani Group previously developed the "Adani Shantigram" township on 580 acres in Ahmedabad, launched in 2010, housing 7,000 families.
