US biotech giant Amgen has articulated its plans to open a new technology and innovation centre in Hyderabad, Telangana. The site will be located in HITEC City and will occupy six floors of the RMZ Spire Tower. This centre is expected to be operational in Q4/2024 and could accommodate up to 3,000 people.
Amgen India will initially build new technology solutions and step up digital capabilities at scale towards enhancing efficiencies across the enterprise. The site will offer roles which strengthen key areas of Amgen’s business, including artificial intelligence (AI), data science, life science and other additional global capabilities over time.
The move underscores the city’s position as a hub for innovation and technology technology to support global operations as well as building AI tools for optimised operations, finding drug discovery targets, and conducting clinical trials among others. The California based Amgen with revenues of USD 28.2 billion in 2023 has a presence in around 100 countries and regions worldwide, including India. The convergence of biotechnology and technology will drive the company's work with greater speed, confidence, and efficiency.
