Tesla has inaugurated its first showroom— the Tesla Experience Centre, at Maker Maxity Mall, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai today. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led the launch, calling Tesla’s entry “a statement that Tesla has arrived in the right city and the right state.” He assured full government support.
This marks Tesla’s first official physical presence in India, signaling its commitment to the growing EV market. The company plans to build a comprehensive ecosystem, including a logistics network, service centers, and four major EV charging stations in Mumbai.
The showroom features a sleek, minimalist design with a white-themed aesthetic and lightboxes displaying Tesla’s innovations alongside Indian cultural elements. Neeta Sharada, Chief Architect, completed the project in just 45 days. Tesla is launching its premium SUV, the Model Y, in India through this showroom. The move is expected to reshape the premium EV segment and position Maharashtra as a hub for clean mobility.
Tesla also began hiring for its India operations earlier this year, preparing for local expansion.
