Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on 05 April, 2025 laid the foundation stone for the Beej Anusandhan Kendra, a dedicated seed research centre at the IFFCO Kalol unit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen seed quality, and promote innovation in the farming sector. The event also marked IFFCO’s 50-year milestone, recognising its enduring impact on India’s cooperative and agricultural landscape. The Minister credited IFFCO for building strong connections between farmers and the cooperative ecosystem, adding that the organisation’s pioneering efforts in nano fertilisers, such as Nano Urea and Nano Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), are now gaining global traction.
The Beej Anusandhan Kendra is envisioned as a transformative facility which will not only improve seed quality and crop yields but also reduce dependency on excessive water and fertiliser use.
The Ministry of Cooperation has rolled out 62 new initiatives, including the formation of Tribhuvan Sahkari University, which will provide modern cooperative education and integrate technologies like AI to guide future strategies for cooperative institutions.
