Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh has announced that detailed project reports (DPRs) worth Rs 77.32 crore have been submitted to Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for establishing tent cities at prominent Buddhist heritage sites in the state.
Locations in Guntur, Visakhapatnam, and Srikakulam are expected to benefit from these developments. In addition, 14 Experience Centres will be created across Andhra Pradesh, with the first phase set for Kondapalli, Kuchipudi village, Mangalagiri, Cheerala, Bapatla, and Araku Valley, aiming to promote local heritage and traditions. Over the past year, the tourism sector attracted Rs 10,644 crore in investments, potentially creating employment for 8,080 people.
Currently, 88 tourism projects worth Rs 698 crore are in progress. These initiatives reflect the state’s focus on boosting tourism infrastructure and employment while preserving cultural heritage.
