Bengaluru-based Ather Energy intends to boost its production capacity by establishing a new manufacturing facility. The electric two-wheeler company is currently in discussions with several state governments to decide on a suitable location for this facility.
Ather already has a manufacturing presence in Hosur, where it can generate 4,20,000 units per year with both facilities together. Apart from catering to the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) within the domestic market, the EV manufacturer will expand into international markets as it has identified demand in the Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the European market.
Recently, the company has secured fresh funding of Rs 900 crore from Hero MotoCorp and GIC, and will be engaged in new product launches, charging infrastructure expansion, and the growth of the retail network. The Bengaluru-based startup with ample visibility in the electric two-wheeler segment is present in 100 cities and about 150 experience centres, seeks to take its presence to 130–150 cities and 180 experience centres by the end of the current financial year.
