Bharat Earth Movers (BEML), a leading public sector enterprise, is set to establish a metro rail coach and rolling stock manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh with an investment of Rs 1,800 crore. The plant will be located in Umaria village, Goharganj tehsil, Raisen district, over 60.063 hectares (148 acres) of land allotted by the state government.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, during his visit to Bengaluru, officially handed over the land allotment documents to BEML. He stated that the new plant will manufacture Vande Bharat coaches, similar to the company’s existing operations in Bengaluru, enhancing the state’s role in the country’s rail infrastructure development.
This strategic move aims to boost the domestic manufacturing of metro and rail components, reduce dependence on imports, and generate employment in the region. BEML, headquartered in Bengaluru, is Asia’s second-largest manufacturer of earthmoving equipment and a key supplier of railway and mining machinery. The Raisen facility will significantly expand its production capabilities and support national infrastructure projects.
