RailTel Corporation of India has bagged a contract worth Rs 264.06 crore by East Central Railway for the provision of Kavach, an indigenous train collision avoidance system (TCAS), on low-density railway tracks covering 607 route km (RKm).
The contract aligns with Indian Railways’ long-term strategy to equip its network with advanced safety mechanisms, particularly in sections with lower traffic density but critical safety requirements. Kavach is a safety system developed under the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative, provides automatic braking in cases of potential collisions and ensures safer train operations even under adverse conditions.
The implementation will improve operational efficiency, and enhance passenger confidence in railway travel across the East Central Railway zone.
