Bharat Fritz Werner (BFW), a manufacturer of machine tools for diverse industry segments, has invested Rs 200 crore to set up a fully digitalised manufacturing plant on  54 acres of land at Devaganapalli in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

The fully tech-driven plant set up amidst growing demand for machine tools within India and worldwide, will enable BFW to see trebling of its annual production. The new machine tools manufacturing facility would feature two assembly halls spanning 20,000 sq. mtrs., each would have a combined capacity to produce over 10,000 computer numerical control machines to replace manually controlled wheels with the help of software.

The company aims to set up a facility of global standards for scale and efficiency and draws on practices and techniques from many other industries, including the automotive sector. In addition, the factory is connected to customers and suppliers which would result in greater operational transparency.

India’s machine tool industry is currently pegged at Rs 20,000 crore, and BFW’s business has been growing above 20 percent, with exports contributing 10 percent. BFW, a flagship company of the Kothari Group, was established in 1961 in collaboration with Fritz Werner Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH Germany, serves segments including automotive, aerospace, forging, and railways.
