The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken the work of concretisation of 677 roads across Mumbai, covering a total length of 308 km, as per data from the civic dashboard as of December 2.
As part of an ongoing infrastructure development project, the work which started in October, focuses on improving the quality and durability of city roads. BMC officials have stated that new road works will only commence once the current stretches reach significant progress.
A total of 2,121 roads were included in the civic body's large-scale concretisation project, with 790 roads already completed and 575 partially finished. Work has not yet started on 756 roads. Abhijit Bangar, Additional Municipal Commissioner and head of BMC's road department, said, "Concretisation works have been ongoing from October onwards across the city. Many of the roads which were partially completed have been taken up now and should be significantly finished by January, only after which any new roads shall be taken."
