Bayview Projects, backed by filmmaker Boney Kapoor and real estate developer Bhutani Group, has bagged a contract to develop the International Film City in Uttar Pradesh. The joint venture company emerged as the highest bidder for the development of the first phase of the proposed 1,000-acre film city near the upcoming Jewar airport in Uttar Pradesh.
The financial bid for the greenfield project was opened on 30 January, 2024 by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The project will entail an investment of Rs 10,000 crore. The selection of the concessionaire remains to be approved by the state government before land is allotted to it for the development of the project.
The Film City project is to be built in a public-private partnership (PPP) mode and is envisaged in over 1,000 acres (230 acres in the first phase) of land along the Yamuna Expressway near Noida. The proposed site includes 740 acres for filming, 40 acres dedicated to film institutes, 120 acres for an amusement park and retail, and the remaining 100 acres towards commercial use.
Real estate consultant CBRE had prepared a detailed project report (DPR) and proposed that the project be completed in three phases. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2028-29.
