The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given approval for construction of 6.930 km long four-lane bridge at Phulaut in Bihar.
CCEA also cleared the decks for rehabilitation and upgradation of the existing Birpur-Bihpur section of the National Highway from 106 km to 136 km to two-lane with paved shoulder in Bihar, entailing an investment of Rs 1,478.40 crore.
The construction period for the project is three years and likely to be completed by June 2022. The new bridge will generate direct employment for about 2.19 lakh man days during construction.
On construction of the new four-lane bridge across river Kosi under this project, distance between Phulaut and Bihpur will be reduced to 12 km.
