The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a new target to complete the four-lane Gurgaon-Pataudi-Rewari highway by December 2025, following a two-year delay.
The project, originally planned in 2018 to upgrade the two-lane state highway into a national highway, is estimated to cost Rs 900 crore. Work, which began in 2021, was initially slated for completion in November 2023. As per NHAI, around 70 percent of the construction is already complete. Two major structures remain: a railway overbridge (RoB) at Pahari village, and a two-lane unidirectional flyover on Dwarka Expressway, both in advanced stages of construction.
The highway is expected to ease traffic on the congested Delhi-Jaipur Expressway and provide an alternate route to industrial hubs in Manesar, Bilaspur, and Dharuhera. Minor delays persist due to pending sewer line strengthening and slow dismantling of a stormwater drain along the corridor. NHAI officials are prioritising completion of all remaining works, including approaches, by the end of the year.
