The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has invited bids worth Rs 298.53 crore for the comprehensive conservation, retrofitting, and development of a utility building in South Block, New Delhi (Phase-I).
Key components of the work includes enabling and protection works, surface cleaning and treatment of walls and floors, waterproofing, and structural reinforcement to restore original materials. The plan also covers the assessment and repair of existing water supply and sanitary systems, including old steel, cast iron, and HDPE pipelines, along with plumbing fixtures such as cisterns, basins, and drains. Also under special works category, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) services will be upgraded using advanced yet conservation-sensitive methods.
The transformation is designed to adapt the South Block into a cultural museum while preserving its historical and architectural essence.
The bid submission due date is 19 November, 2025.
