CRM Ispat is planning for the expansion of its existing steel plant for replacement of existing 2x7 T induction furnaces by 2x15 at Bamunara Industrial Area, Bamunara village, P.S. Kanksa, P.O. Gopalpur in Bardhman, West Bengal.
The expansion will also include installation of new 2x15 T induction furnaces with 6/11 three strands continuous casting machine (2,00,000 tpa billets). Besides, the company seeks to expand the slag crusher unit, AOD and hot rolling mill for production of TMT bars, wire rod, among others.
In March 2023, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) accorded terms of reference (ToR) for the project.
According to the updates shared with Projects Today, CRM Ispat expects to commence work on the project by March 2024. At present, the company is awaiting environmental clearance (EC) for the project.
