The Central government has approved Rs 300.2 crore as the third installment for the Palakkad Industrial Smart City Project, part of the Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor.
The funding has been allocated to the Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (KICDC), with the State government additionally transferring 316 acres of land to the corporation. This brings the total financial commitment from the Centre to Rs 613.7 crore, with Kerala contributing 646 acres of land. The KICDC, a joint venture between Kerala's KINFRA and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), is responsible for implementing the project.
A recent review meeting held in Kochi, attended by key officials from KICDC, NICDIT, and the project contractors, aimed at accelerating the infrastructure development for the smart city.
