The World Bank is expected to release an additional USD 200 million for the Amaravati Capital City project by December 2025.
This comes after the initial USD 207 million was disbursed, with less than 50 percent spent on various development works. The World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have each committed USD 800 million for Phase-I of the project, totalling USD 1.6 billion. The state government will be eligible for the next tranche once 75 percent of the initial funds are spent. Regular inspections by both banks ensure the project progresses satisfactorily.
The funds are part of a larger Rs 15,000 crore commitment for the development of Amaravati. The World Bank has expressed satisfaction with the project's implementation so far, with further disbursements expected in line with progress.
