The Central government has approved 17 new projects worth Rs 7,172 crore under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), boosting its push into high-value electronics manufacturing.
With these additions, the total number of sanctioned projects rises to 24, covering six key component categories and spread across nine states. Companies involved include Jabil Circuit India, Aequs Consumer Products, Uno Minda, and TE Connectivity India. The government aims for a cumulative production of Rs 65,111 crore, reinforcing India's position as a major electronics hub.
Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of design teams, quality standards, and strong supply chains for long-term competitiveness. The approved projects, including components like camera modules and PCBs, are vital for industries ranging from smartphones to automotive electronics. The next phase will focus on building skills and meeting global quality standards to ensure sustained growth.
