Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has announced that pilot production has commenced at Kaynes and CG's semiconductor plants in Gujarat.

Speaking after reviewing the progress of four semiconductor projects in Gandhinagar, Vaishnaw stated that three of these plants are expected to reach significant production levels within the next two to three months. The plants include Micron’s mini-factory and a semiconductor fab being built in Dholera, which is set to become a major high-tech manufacturing hub.

Minister Vaishnaw emphasised the importance of semiconductor fabrication for India’s digital and economic growth, underscoring its strategic relevance to sectors like healthcare, defense, and communication. The India Semiconductor Mission, launched in 2021, has already contributed to this shift, with major investments under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
