The Network Planning Group (NPG) has evaluated five key infrastructure projects as part of the PM GatiShakti initiative, focusing on integrated multimodal connectivity.
The projects include two highway expansions, two railway upgrades, and one Metro Rail development. Railway projects feature the quadrupling of the 65 km Hosapete-Ballari line in Karnataka, aimed at decongesting a mineral-rich corridor, and doubling the 230.5 km Gondia-Jabalpur rail section linking Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh to boost freight capacity.
Highway plans involve widening the 50 km Mahwa-Mandawar stretch in Rajasthan to enhance regional trade and building a six-lane elevated road in Patna to support economic hubs. A highway project includes building a six-lane elevated road along with a service road spanning 13.37 km, extending from Anisabad to Deedargunj within the Patna Metropolitan region.
Additionally, Jaipur Metro Phase 2 has been proposed to extend 42.8 km North-South, connecting major industrial areas and easing urban traffic.
