The Coca Cola Company is set to invest Rs 3,000 crore for the establishment of a beverage bases and concentrates plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The company will channel the foreign direct investment (FDI) through International Refreshments (India) (IRIPL), the company's subsidiary.
The state government has already allotted a 1.6 lakh sq. mtrs. of land (SM52) in Sanand Industrial Estate-II for the plant. The approval process has also been expedited. The new plant s expected to be fully automated utilising robotic technology and Internet of Things (IoT) to aid real-time monitoring and control of manufacturing processes. Additionally, automated storage and retrieval systems would further enhance efficiency.
The company plans to employ around 1,000 individuals during construction phase, and once operational, the plant is anticipated to provide employment to 400 individuals in operational and engineering roles.
The establishment of this plant will create a ripple effect on ancillary industries, including packaging suppliers, flavour producers, capital goods, and the automation sector. The company has invested earlier in Gujarat through its bottling partner, Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages.
