The CM of Maharshtra has asked the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (BMC) to take up the Dahisar river revival project on priority basis. The project would give Mumbai its first mangrove park and marine interpretation centre in the North Mumbai suburb.
According to the project proposal the Dahisar river will be cleaned from its present polluted condition, in Dahisar West, where the river ends and will be converted into a mangrove park.
As per the plan, the mangrove park will allow tourists to enjoy mangrove trails by walking on wooden boardwalks. Further, with the mangroves being home to several migrant and resident birds, tourists and nature enthusiasts will be allowed bird-watching through the specially built towers.
